Perfect source for old boards and large harddisk support is:

I was able to patch an "old" PI board from max 8,4 GB up to 128 GB.
Donīt forget to use the patched fdisk version if you prepare your large harddisk with a dos boot disk!

That page is pretty decent.  The links on the bottom of the page are worth checking out, as well.

Also, if you get really desperate, and happen to have an Award bios, there's always apple_rom's bios patcher.

Ended up using it when I upgraded the hard drive on my server.  Use at your own risk :-)
