Monitor Simulator:
While things worked fine in my test environment, I had garbage characters on the LCD when running things in the car. While troubleshooting, I found that when the monitor is disconnected, the screen resolution drops down to 640x480. While MPXPlay works at a resolution that low, the routines that I use to read characters from MPXPlay fail at resolutions below 800x600. The solution was actually pretty simple. I purchased an HDMI EDID Dummy Plug. These handy little devices trick the system into thinking that a real monitor is plugged in. I paid $5 for a pack of two off of Amazon.
